William Lewis “Bill” Williams, 70, of Chase City, died April 4, 2010. He was a US Navy veteran and had worked in the apparel industry for many years, including local plants, Jonbil Inc. and Hampco Apparel. He was an active member of Concord Baptist Church, serving as deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher, a member of Chase City Lions Club, having served as former president, and he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man. Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Phyllis Seamans Williams, children, Greg Williams and wife, Sandra of Mt. Airy, NC, Tracie Carson and husband, Chad of Kennesaw, GA, Paula and Craig Wilson of Oxford, NC, brother, Jack Williams of Austin, TX, sister, Jane Wortman of Purcellville, grandchildren, Chapin and Miranda Williams, Chase and Jake Carson, Blake and Caroline Wilson, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 Tuesday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. John Mann officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church, c/o Brenda Walker, 3362 Old Cox Rd., Chase City, VA 23924.
